Science

Overview:

The Edgemont science program is a community of dedicated professionals committed to providing an exemplary science education in a changing world. We create an environment where students can become scientifically literate citizens. We strive to instill in students a fundamental background in science and the ability to apply this to analyzing, describing, and understanding scientific phenomena, with a focus on solving qualitative and quantitative real world problems.

Students enrolled at EHS are required to earn 3 credits in Science. One of the science courses must be Living Environment and another must be a Physical Setting course (Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics). Students must pass one Science Regents exam, typically taken during one's 9th grade year. Course sequencing is summarized in the flow chart below.

At the high school level, electives are offered that are meant to expand interest and knowledge in science. Detailed descriptions of these electives, as well as the traditional course offerings can be found starting on page 16 of the Curriculum Bulletin.
